Digital Radio Systems

Digital two-way radios are the ultimate generation of mobile radio communication.

Digital radio has additional digital signal processing that occurs inside the radio to convert the original analog voice into digital format (“ones and zeros”) before transmitting the signal in digital form over-the-air. The receiving radio receives the digital transmission and converts the digital signal back into analog signal so the user can hear the voice.

Examples of digital radio are radios that comply with APCO-25 standard or TETRA standard.

Depending on the model, digital radios can have a number of applications like Text Messaging, Direct Calling, ID calling, Emergency Alarm Functions, Mandown Function that increase the effectiveness of these radio communication systems in every environment.

Also, digital radios make better use of radio channels than analog, are more secure and give clearer audio than analog radios at greater distances.
